Staff Bio

Dr. Thatcher

Dr. Thatcher is a 1980 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing as an associate veterinarian in Des Moines and Ohio for 8 years, she made the decision that she wanted to open her own practice. Dr. Thatcher opened the doors of Hickman Road Veterinary Clinic on April 1, 1988 and has been at the same location ever since. 

When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband and grown children. She has a passion for gardening, which you will definitely notice at the clinic surrounded by beautiful flower beds! Another thing that is very near and dear to her heart is volunteering at CROSS food panty which she does most every Thursday during the day. 

Dr. Thatcher prides herself on getting to know each client and pet that comes in the door. She sets the environment for quality, not quantity. We want to make sure you have an opportunity to get all your questions answered when you are here without feeling rushed!

Ann Gourd

Ann joined HRVC in December 2015. Since starting out as a part-time employee while attending school, she has become full-time and a huge part of our team! Her special interests in the veterinary field are lab work, wounds, and abscesses! She also has found a love for interesting surgeries. When she's not working, you can find her hanging out with her dog March Hare. March is a retired racing greyhound. She also has two cats named Spot and Smokey that live with her parents.  Some of her other interests include gaming and Anime. She also has a knack for fixing our computer issues around the clinic!

Elizabeth Olson

Elizabeth joined HRVC in 2015 as an intern while attending DMACC to obtain her Veterinary Technician certification. After her internship, she became a permanent fixture with the clinic. She stays knee-deep in every aspect of the practice. When she's not working, you can find her hanging out with her two fur babies, Monte and Rascal. Both of them are full of life and keep things entertaining! You can often find her out in the yard, making sure her "boys" are getting all the exercise they need to sleep at night! Elizabeth is also a very involved member of her church and is very active in bible study.

Autumn Luke

Autumn Joined HRVC as a part-time employee in March 2019. She comes to us with a great deal of experience working at other daytime practices and Specialty Clinics.  She is a country girl at heart and loves spending her free time outdoors and with her horses.  Once you meet her you won't forget her as her personality is very welcoming! Along with her horses, she has dogs, cats, goats, and a duck!  She also is an avid woodworker doing various projects that she sells and gives away as gifts.
